Library FAQs

The Library practices the open-shelf system. Users are free to go directly to the shelves and withdraw books they need. Books are arranged on the shelves using the Library of Congress Classification System.

All bonafide users are welcome to use the Asian Library provided they maintain quiet and handle library materials with respect.

Q: Who may use the library?
A: College students and Professionals may use the Asian Library.

Q: Why are high school students not allowed to use the library?
A: High school students will not find the information that they need in our library because our resources are suited for college students, researchers and professionals. However, on a case to case basis and upon the approval of the Chief Librarian, high school students may be allowed to use the library.

Q: What are the requirements for membership in your library?
A: For Annual Membership, please submit and prepare two (2) ID pictures, membership fees of P56.00 for students and P106.00 for professionals, and a duly accomplished library membership form.  For Lifetime Membership, please submit and prepare two (2) ID pictures, membership fee of P1,000.00 and a
duly accomplished library membership form

Q: Can I use the library without applying for membership?
A: Yes. Walk-in researchers are required to pay a research fee of P20.00 for one-day use of the library’s resources.

Q: Can I borrow books from your library?
A: Yes, provided you pay a deposit fee of P200.00 and provide us with guarantors who are related to you. Your deposit fee is refundable six months after the date of application. Borrowing privilege begins upon confirmation of guarantors by the library.

Q: What will I do if a book that I borrowed from your library gets lost or damaged?
A: You will have to pay the equivalent replacement cost of a book damaged or lost while in the borrower’s possession. If borrower fails to make restitution, his deposit will be forfeited.

Q: What are your lending policies?
A:  One book may be borrowed for one week, renewable for an additional three
days.  Magazines and other special collections are for room use only.   A fine of P3.00 per overdue day is imposed. Computation of fines includes Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Q: Can I use your library to review for board exams?
A: No because we want our clients to use our resources and not their personal reference materials.
