Due to his valuable contributions in the field of geothermal energy development in the Philippines, Professor Arturo Alcaraz became the third recipient of the Meralco Award for Engineering and Applied Sciences in 1992. The honor is "presented every two years to a Filipino citizen or group of individuals in recognition of a valuable contribution to Philippine socio-economic development."
