Description
Official brochure of the Tugdaan (Seedbed), a Mangyan Center for Learning and Development and now known as the Tugdaan Center for Human and Environmental Development located at Barangay Paitan, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro. It features the framework of the learning system for indigenous peoples education formulated by Benjamin Abadiano and was adopted by the Department of Education, Culture and Sports then (now DepED or Department of Education). One of their products, the calamansi juice, was also featured as one of their fund-raising venture. Lastly, 'Balay Lakoy,' the central big house in the Mangyan community, serves as the research, documentation, and information arm of the Tugdaan Mangyan Center. Photos show Benjamin Abadiano, the founder of Tugdaan with some of its volunteers and students. In one photo, Abadiano was shown passionately teaching the Mangyans and in another, one of the activities with volunteers of Tugdaan including the Holy Spirit sisters.
