Chen Guangcheng's wife Yuan Weijing writes to remind the world of her husband's life in prison.
Chen has fought for the the rights of blind people in rural communities and has worked tirelessly to secure basic human rights for ordinary people. In 2006 he was sentenced to four years and three months imprisonment on charges of malicious damages, illegal gatheering and disruption of traffic order.
Besides being completely blind, Chen's life in prison has been difficult. He is deprived of even the most basic right of an inmate to read books since efforts to supply him with Braille books have been blocked. His medical needs have not been treated. To read the letter of his wife, please go to:
